Breathe. Focus. Perform.
Experience
All three of my children have passed through the education system and are now either at uni or beyond, so as a parent I’ve done the late-night revision pep talks, the snack diplomacy, the “please now sleep!” negotiations, and the full forensic review of exams once they’re over!
The life skills I teach can be used in any situation where you feel ‘up against it’ – whether that’s during another monotonous revision session, driving to the exam, lining up for the
exam..as well as in the exam hall itself.
Mindfulness is about learning the skill of focusing on just this moment, using a range of techniques which alter the flow of chemicals in the body. This has a direct positive impact on the brain. Through directing our attention into our physical body we calm down areas of the brain associated with reactivity and allow the part of brain linked to attention to strengthen, resulting in clarity of mind and focus.

Each session lasts for an hour and is tailor-made according to the specific issues you’re dealing with – I have worked with students worrying about
brain-freeze, rumbling tummies, enforced silence, not being allowed a fidget, forgetting facts, feeling sick….all manner of worries.

As soon as we anchor ourselves in a certain way, many of these anxieties diminish as we are able to respond rather than react to the environment
we’re in.
